Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread- "But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever." (Psalm 52:8) NIV
Have you ever heard the saying; "flourish where you are planted?" This is an extraordinary lesson and one that is often taken lightly amongst the children of God. It is easy to look at the circumstances of your life and begin to grumble in your heart, wondering; "has God forgotten me?" The Lord has most certainly not forgotten you. You are precious in His sight and dear to His heart. The Lord loves you and desires nothing more than to prosper you and raise you up for His divine purposes. In difficult times it is vital to turn to the Word of God for truth and guidance. Through reading the Scriptures you will find invaluable lessons filled with truths and answers for your life.

In the Bible (Genesis 37-50), the Scriptures talk about a man named Joseph. Joseph was a righteous man who served and loved the Lord. He had integrity and did his best at everything he put his hand to. He was a man beloved by his earthly father, who gave him a beautiful and colorful coat. Because of this, Joseph's brothers despised him. They were exceedingly jealous and conspired against him. Through an evil plot, Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery and told their father that he had died a tragic death. Joseph was sold as a slave in the land of Egypt, to one of Pharaoh's top officials. His name was Potiphar. Joseph quickly gained favor with Potiphar and was put in charge of his entire household. The Lord blessed Potiphar's home because of Joseph's presence there, and Joseph grew in stature among God and man.

Potiphar had an evil wife, who continually tried to entice Joseph. Joseph refused her, and so she made up a lie about him. Because of this, he was thrown into the king's prison without cause. Even in prison Joseph flourished. Joseph chose to make the best of this experience, and he prospered, even in the midst of the most trying and difficult circumstance. In this, God gave him favor and word spread about him throughout the prison. The warden took notice of Joseph and put him in charge of all the prisoners there.

After a period of time, the Pharaoh of the land had a dream that could not be interpreted. He was puzzled about its' meaning, and decided to call for Joseph to inquire of him about the dream. Joseph came before the Pharaoh to give him the interpretation, as God had revealed it to him. When this took place, Pharaoh marveled and was amazed at Joseph’s wisdom. Because of this, Pharaoh honored Joseph, removed him from prison, and put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt. He went from being a slave, to a prisoner, to becoming the second most powerful man in all the land.

After many years, Joseph was reunited with his brothers and his father. Joseph extended forgiveness to them, and ended up helping them during a time when there was a great famine in the land. Had it not been for Joseph's hand of intervention in their lives, they could have starved to death and not received the help that they needed in their most critical hour. Joseph provided them with all they had need of and relocate them to the land of Egypt to be close to him.

Every difficult circumstance Joseph went through in his life, led him to the place where he ultimately ended up. Through this, he became a powerful man and was able to save the people, including his family from the great famine that swept throughout the land. God took every devastating circumstance he went through and turned it for His good. Joseph could have quit or given up, or walked away from God. But he did not. He trusted God, leaned upon Him for strength, and flourished right where he was planted. Because of this, God raised him up and exalted his life's service; using Joseph for His glory, to make a difference in this world.

No matter what you may be walking through in your life, God is there. He is willing and able to turn around every situation you are facing. Nothing is too great for Him. All you have to do is surrender to His will, believe, and have faith in His divine purpose for your life. Although difficult at times, it is possible to flourish right where you are planted today. It may not be your ultimate destination, and it may not be an ideal circumstance for your life. But, as you are faithful and continue to press forward, God will take notice of you and place you in the positioning He has for your life. You are not forgotten. The Lord's eye is upon you.

Today, I encourage you to trust Him no matter what you may be walking through. I encourage you to keep moving forward, and to believe that God has a plan for you and will see you through every difficult circumstance.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I give You my life and ask that You would fill me with Your presence and Your Holy Spirit. I ask that You would give me the courage and the strength that I need to make it through every trying circumstance, and I ask that You would help me to flourish in every aspect and stage of my life. I ask for Your love, strength, and mercy.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Warfare...

Volume 3.7

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread- In life, there are many obstacles. The Bible says; “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8 NIV). The devil, who is the adversary of your soul, is always lurking around looking for an opportunity to pounce and hurt the children of God. The good news is that God is bigger and more powerful than the devil. The Bible says; “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4 NAS). The devil is not a human being, he is a spiritual being. Therefore you can not defeat him through using your fists or using fleshly weapons. The Bible says; “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12 NIV). Because of this, you can only defeat the devil through spiritual weapons; weapons of warfare given to you by God to defeat the devil and live in victory in the name of Jesus Christ.

The first weapon of warfare is the weapon of faith. Having faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, and having faith in His promises and truths for your life is the first step. The Bible says; “…If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you” (Matthew 17:20 NAS). Faith is essential in your walk with God and it is the foundation of your belief in Christ. In the Bible, faith is depicted in this way; “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1NIV). It is through your faith that you will please God and move His heart in favor.

The second weapon of warfare is the weapon of prayer. Through prayer mountains are moved. The Bible says; “Truly I say to you, whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst” (Matthew 18:18-20 NAS). When you pray in Jesus name, you are releasing your faith and taking a stand against the enemy of your soul. It is through prayer that spiritual battles are won and the cohorts of hell are bound back by the mighty host of Angels in Heaven. Jesus displayed the importance of prayer during His walk on earth. In various passages of Scripture it talks about Jesus taking time by Himself to kneel before His Father and recharge Himself through prayer and communion with God. This is very important when it comes to your walk with Him. You must take time for prayer and communion with Christ.

The third weapon of warfare is the weapon of God’s Word. It is essential to study the Bible and read its’ truths. It is through the Scriptures that you will learn the tenets of the faith; and it is through studying the Word that your faith will be made strong. The Bible is likened unto daily bread. Without it, you can not survive; you will eventually become weak and frail and wither away. You need food to survive and get through life. So it is with the Word of God. If you want your spirit to be strong, you must feed it through reading the Bible and learning the Scriptures.

It is vital to speak the word. In Matthew 4:1-11(NIV) it says; Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, It is written: “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Then the devil took Him to the holy city and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If You are the Son of God, he said, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He will command His angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” Jesus answered Him, “It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.”

Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give You, he said, if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” Then the devil left Him, and angels came and attended Him.

Jesus was tempted by the devil. Jesus spoke the truth and spoke forth the Word to defeat the devil and his devices. The devil knows the Word of God and he will always come to tempt the people of God, distorting and perverting the Word to make his point. But as Jesus did, you must know what the Word says and then speak it forth, defeating the devil and his trickery. If you do not know the Scriptures by memorization, then open the Bible and begin to read it aloud. Pick Scriptures that pertain to what you are going through and build your faith. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in your times of studying the Bible and allow Him to bring to life its’ truths and how they apply to you and your life’s circumstances.

The fourth weapon of warfare is the weapon of tithing. The Bible says; “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over…” (Luke 6:38 NKJ). It is very important to the Lord that you are giving into His kingdom, and honoring Him with your tithes and offerings. When you give into God’s work you are making war against the devil and all his devices through your obedience and faith to give as the Lord commands you. When tithing, it is essential to seek God and inquire of Him where He would like you to give and how much He is requiring of you to give. When you seek the Lord in these matters, He will lead you, and in this, you will be giving into good soil and giving the amount He is commanding you to.

When you tithe you are honoring God and those that are spiritually feeding your life. Many times people expect many blessings from the Lord, but they are unwilling to trust Him with their finances. If you do not trust the Lord with your finances, then you will not be able to trust Him with much else. The Lord often calls a person to give in their most difficult financial hour. It is through their obedience to obey Him that He will unlock a blessing for their lives and turn their circumstances around.

The fifth weapon of warfare is the weapon of fasting. The Bible says; “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting” (Mark 9:29 Amplified).The Bible also says; “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?” (Isaiah 58:6 NIV) There are many types of fasts including; a one days fast, a Daniel fast, a forty day fast, and more. Jesus displayed the importance of fasting during His time in the wilderness. The Bible says that He was lead into the desert to be tempted by the devil. During His time there He fasted for forty days. His flesh was weak, but His Spirit was strong. It was through His Spiritual strength that He defeated the devil and his evil temptations.

Like Jesus, when you fast you are denying your flesh and your spirit is made strong. It is also through your times of prayer and fasting that the devil’s power is broken over your life and those you are praying for. Fasting is a powerful weapon and one that is often ignored or taken lightly in the Body of Christ. You must remember the example that Jesus set in His time of fasting. The Bible says that after Jesus was tempted and fasted for those forty days in the wilderness, He returned in the “power of the Holy Spirit.” It was at this time that He began His public ministry and began performing many miracles.

The sixth weapon of warfare is the weapon of worship. Worship is not only the act of singing praises unto the Lord’s name, but it is also a condition of your heart. When you obey the Lord you are worshiping Him. Your obedience and reverence for God is an act of worship that is exceedingly pleasing in His sight. The Bible says; “All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to” (Deuteronomy 28:2-8 NIV). This passage of Scripture displays just how important it is to obey God. When you obey Him, you are essentially defeating the devil in your life. You are opening yourself up to the Lord’s blessings for your life, and you are shutting the door to the devil and his devices against you.

Using these weapons of warfare is vital if you want to be an over comer and walk in an affective manner in Christ. However, even when using these spiritual weapons, remember that it is essential to walk in obedience before the Lord in order to have victory in life. Many people believe they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, and still have a blessed and victorious Christian walk. This simply is not true. This is a lie and a deception of the devil. The Bible speaks about not using the gift of salvation as a right to sin. Every believer has a covering of the Lord over their lives. This is there to keep and protect them. When a person does wrong before the Lord and does not obey His voice, they step out from underneath that covering and open themselves up to get attacked by the devil.

In order to prevent this from happening, a person must keep short accounts with the Lord. That is to repent of sin and not allow sin to take root in their hearts. In the Bible Jesus said; “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17 NAS). Make wrongs right with God and those that were hurt or affected by this sin. Also, seek the Lord regarding unrepented sin. Many individuals go through life and forget or ignore their wrongs from the past. They leave a trail of sin behind them and never take care of it. It is essential to face the past, repent for it, and then allow the Lord to do a work in your heart over it. When a person takes care of their past sins and allows the Lord to move in their hearts over it, then they are far less likely to repeat it. When sin goes unchecked, it takes root, flourishes, and then wreaks havoc on a person’s life. The Bible says; “Sin flourishes in darkness.” When a person exposes their sin before the Lord and repents, they can be healed, freed, and restored. Through this repentance the door to the devil is shut and his access is cut off. It is in this that a person finds victory in Christ.

Today, I encourage you to seek the Lord. I encourage you to seek Him in repentance and understanding of His Word, His truths, and the spiritual weapons of warfare that He has made available to you. I encourage you to exercise your faith and your belief in Him and His promises for your life.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I ask that You would speak to my heart this day and deliver me from the power of the devil. I ask You Lord to teach me how to use the spiritual weapons of warfare that You have given me, and I ask that You would stand with me in this. I thank You for all these things.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Vindication...

Volume 3.6

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread- Have you ever had an experience arise in your life where you felt completely helpless to do anything about it? Have you ever been wronged by an individual or group of people, and wanted to take revenge on those that hurt you? If you have, then you are not alone. Many people have dealt with these types of experiences and felt overwhelmed by their circumstances. The Bible talks about many men and women of God that had terrible injustices done to them. They were mocked, ridiculed, beaten, and even killed for the sake of the Gospel. The Bible is very clear that persecution and adversaries will arise in your life. But He gives a promise to each believer that He will be there, and see you through every obstacle. The Bible teaches that you should rejoice in trials and persecutions that come your way because of your walk with Christ and your belief in His truths. Do not be afraid when these troubles come about; but take heart and have courage. God is there and He will never fail you.

In the Books of Samuel it talks about a mighty man of God named David. When David was a boy he was a shepherd. He tended to his flock and would sing praises to God in the field. At a young age a prophet named Samuel came and visited David and his family and anointed David as king. David was unassuming and was seen as the “least” of his brothers. Yet God saw something special in him and knew that he had a king’s heart.

During David’s youth a group of people called the Philistines came to invade Israel and wanted to destroy the Israelites. There was one Philistine bigger than them all. He was as big as a giant, and his name was Goliath. There was not one man in the land that could take down Goliath and defeat him. But David was not afraid. He had courage and was willing to fight this giant. David stood before Goliath, and with one smooth stone and a sling shot, he defeated him. The whole nation sung praises to David’s name because of this and held him up in high esteem. As time went on David gained great favor with God and man.

Saul, who was the king at that time, became angry with David and jealousy gripped him. He hated that the people loved David more than him and gave him higher praise. The people would sing, “Saul has slain his thousands and David his ten thousands.” This enraged Saul and it caused him to turn against David. Saul pursued David in evil and tried to put him to death. Because of this, David had to flee and live in the caves. With him went a few hundred fighting men that were loyal and watched over him. Even when David fled, Saul did not stop pursuing him. He continued to chase after him, attempting many times to kill him. But God was faithful to him and never allowed Saul to prevail. This lasted many years and was a great source of pain and hardship for David. After many years Saul died in battle and David was able to return to the land. At that time, he became king over Judah, and then seven and a half years later he became king over Israel. God vindicated David, allowing him to prevail over his enemies and putting him in a great place of esteem and honor. David did not take revenge on Saul, his enemy, but allowed God to do the fighting on his behalf.

Through David’s experience with Saul God did a great work in his heart. He taught him through this time, and raised him up as a mighty man of God. He gained David’s trust by showing him that He would watch over him no matter what. He proved Himself faithful and true, and delivered David from every trial and tribulation. Through this experience He prepared David for his soon coming kingship and made his heart ready to rule an entire nation.

Through all of this, David did not try to raise himself up or prove himself out. He allowed the Lord to work in his heart and raise him up for His glory. He gave God room to work on his behalf and to work out every matter. He trusted the Lord and did not allow his anger or hurt to block out God’s voice and leadership in his life.

No matter what you may be facing in your life keep your heart steadfast on Jesus. Do not get angry at the Lord and turn from Him in times of trouble. This is a time of preparation for your destiny, and He will turn what the devil meant for evil in your life for His good. Allow God to strengthen you and prepare you to handle what He has in store for you. In this training you will be made strong. Your character will be built and your trust will be made steadfast in the Lord. Because David allowed God to raise him up, he was able to stand in the place God gave him as king. David was regarded as one of the greatest kings to ever live, and he reigned for forty years. What is built in the flesh will always fall. Do not build your house on the sand. Allow your life to be built on the rock of Jesus Christ; and allow God to vindicate you and bring you out of every trial and tribulation.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I give You my life this day. And I give You every trail and tribulation. I forgive those who have wronged me and I choose to release the hurt and anger from these matters to You. I won’t take up weapons in the flesh and try to fight my own battles. But I give You these matters and ask that You would fight the battle on my behalf. Just as you fought the battle on King David’s behalf, so I ask that You would do the same for me. I thank You for these things and I give You all the glory, honor, and praise.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,
Amen

Healing...

Volume 3.5

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread- God’s healing is present and available for you this very day. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you; and He desires for you to enter into His healing presence and touch for your life. The Bible says; “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) NIV

This means that when Jesus died on the cross, He not only took the sins of the world upon Him; but He also took the pain, heartache, and bodily affliction of every individual as well. You don’t have to walk in defeat in your life. You can have victory and be an over comer. You can have joy, peace, prosperity, and emotional and physical stability. The devil comes to bring discouragement and destruction upon every person. Jesus said; “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10) NAS

How can you have healing, peace, and abundant living? The first step is welcoming Jesus Christ into your life and accepting Him as your Lord and Savior. You don’t have to be a perfect person, only a willing one. The Lord knows your innermost thoughts, desires, and shortcomings. Yet He is still willing to accept you and love you just as you are. All you have to say is “Yes Jesus, Yes, I accept You into my life and heart.” It is in this decision, and at the feet of Jesus that your healing and transformation begins.

The second step is building a relationship with the Lord. How do you do this? You do this through prayer and fellowship with the Holy Spirit; He is the Spirit of God. You do this through listening for His voice and opening your heart up to the things He has to say. You do this through reading God’s word and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you and bring to life the scriptures before you. And you do this through obeying God’s voice and yielding yourself to His will and purpose for your life; leaving behind the former things, and pressing on to the future that the Lord has destined before you.

A perfect example of God’s healing power is found in the scriptures. It says; “Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the edge of His cloak. She said to herself, “If I only touch His cloak, I will be healed.” Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” He said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed from that moment. (Matthew 9:20-22) NIV

This woman put her faith in Jesus and knew that He would make her well. It was through her faith and belief that she moved the heart of Jesus and received healing for her life. She knew that if she could reach out and just touch His cloak that His power and presence would touch and transform her life. This woman believed. She believed in Christ and believed that His healing touch was relevant and present for her life.

This day, put your faith in Jesus Christ. Reach out and touch the hem of His garment. He is there. He is waiting. And His Healing presence and power can touch your life in this very moment. All you have to do is believe. Believe and say yes; “Yes Lord, I choose You.”

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I choose You this day, and I say yes. Yes to You and Your will for my life. I ask that You would come into my heart and be the Lord of my life; and I ask that You would heal me this day. Transform my life and make me whole. I thank You for all these things.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Forgiveness...

Volume 3.4

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread-

Forgiveness is a simple word. However, it easier said than done. Many people walk around in life hurting, rejected, bitter, and full of anger and unforgiveness. Did you know that holding these negative feelings in your heart can actually end up hurting your life, and keep you from entering into the full blessings that the Lord has purposed for you?

God loves you and desires for you to receive all that He has intended for your life. This starts with forgiveness. First, you must come to Jesus and ask to be forgiven of your sins. Then, you must be willing to forgive yourself for your failures and shortcomings. And last, but not least, you must be willing to forgive those that have wronged you, hurt you, and mistreated you in your life. This does not mean that you need to enter back into a friendship or relationship with these individuals. It simply means that you are willing to forgive them, and are willing to let go of the past, allowing God to heal your heart and prepare you for all that He has in store for your life. This is not an easy thing to do, but it is possible. The Bible says; “With God all things are possible…”

The first step to forgiveness is coming to the cross and laying down your burdens of pain, hurt, and anger. When taking the steps to forgive, you may not feel like you’ve forgiven. You may still feel angry and bitter. But by saying the words out loud; “I choose to forgive” you are taking a big step of faith. You must be open to forgive in order to move on from your past and into your future.

In Matthew 18:21-23 NIV it says; Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” The point that Jesus was making was that no matter how many times a person may wrong you, it is essential that you forgive. Just as Jesus forgives you of your sins, no matter how numerous, He calls you to do the same with those around you.

When you forgive someone, they may not want it. Or they may think that they have done no wrong. They might continue wronging you and disappointing you. The forgiveness you extend is for the purpose of bringing liberty to your soul and keeping yourself in right standing before the Lord. It does not matter how the other person responds. It matters that you are doing the right thing, and by doing so are allowing yourself to move forward and live in freedom, liberty, and joy.

A perfect example of forgiveness is displayed in the scriptures in Luke 23:34 NIV; Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Jesus said this while He hung on the cross and was being crucified. The people were killing Him in the most brutal fashion. He was in the most excruciating pain, and yet He asked His Father to forgive the people for what they were doing against Him.

This day, I encourage you to take a step of forgiveness. Don’t hold onto your pain and bitterness for another day. But release it. Release it from your heart and to the Lord, and allow Him to take you up and transform and heal your life.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I give You my life; and I commit my life to You. I forgive myself Lord for my shortcomings, and I ask that You would heal my heart of all bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness. I forgive those that have wronged me, hurt me, abused me, and mistreated me. It was not by Your hand that these things were done to me. It was not Your will. It was done by the hand of the evil one, and I renounce the devil and all his ways against me in these matters. And I release these things from my heart, and I give it to You Lord.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Final Thought- Forgiveness is a condition of the heart. Forgiving doesn’t mean that you have to enter back into a relationship with someone that has betrayed you. What it means is that you are willing to release the offense of what was done against you; and you are willing to let God heal your heart of all wounds and pain. Forgiveness isn’t always an easy step to make, but it is essential for healing and growth. If you need forgiveness or need to forgive, do it today. Don’t wait. Your healing and recovery is just one step away.

Hope...

Volume 3.3

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread-
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

In life it’s easy to grow weary, to become tired, and to come to a place where giving up seems like the best option. During these times it is important to remember that God is there and He is willing to meet you right where you are at in your life. The Bible says that you should hope in the Lord and put your trust in Him. The Bible teaches that there will be trying events and persecution that will arise in each person’s life. The good news is; there is a God that loves you, and gives you a promise in His word that He will be there for you and see you through the stumbling blocks and challenges that arise in your life. There is a wonderful example of God’s faithfulness shown in 1 Samuel 17:48-51 (NIV). It says;

“As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him. David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.”

The scriptures say that at the time David killed Goliath (the Philistine) he was a youth, and not considered a valiant warrior, but was a shepard boy who tended to the sheep and praised and loved God continually. Goliath, on the other hand, was considered a mighty warrior, and one that many thought could never be defeated. He was an extremely large man, and regarded as a giant. Knowing this, David still chose to fight Goliath. David was a man after God’s own heart. He loved God and trusted in Him. He leaned upon Him, putting his hope in Him, knowing that the Lord his God would supply all of his needs and be there for him in his most desperate and critical hour. When David faced Goliath, he knew that the Lord would be standing with him and be there to fight the battle on his behalf. Because of this, David was able to go beyond his own strength and ability. By putting his trust and future in the Lord’s hands and believing that God was enough, he was able to defeat the giant and garner a victory for his nation. It was through this trial that God tested David’s heart, and looked to see if David would trust in Him and put his hope in Him. He indeed proved to be a faithful and trustworthy servant of God. David went on to become a mighty warrior and later became a great king.

Every trial, tribulation, and persecution you walk through in life is a testing ground. It is an opportunity to show yourself faithful to the Lord no matter what you might be faced with. The Bible shares that God looks for a faithful servant, one that will trust in Him and one that will lean upon Him. One that will stand up for what is good and what is right; one that will prove to be a mighty warrior, even in the midst of the most trying circumstances.

Today, you may be facing your own "giant." It may be in the form of the many challenges and obstacles you are facing in life. You might be thinking that there is no possible way that you can overcome, but you can! God is with you. He loves you and with His assistance you can take down every “giant” in your life. There is nothing that is too big or impossible for God. The Bible says; “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 (NIV)

I encourage you to trust and hope in the Lord this day. I encourage you to walk with God and to lean upon Him in every regard. I encourage you to give Him your life completely and to believe that He can and will supply all of your needs. He will fight every one of your battles; and He will renew your strength.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I give You my life; and I commit my life’s path to You. I put my hope in You; and I place my trust in You Lord. I ask that You would give me new strength this day and help me to mount up with wings as eagles. I know that as I place my trust and hope in You, I will run and not grow weary. I will walk and not be faint. I thank You for all these things.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Date Idea of the Month-

Family Time Idea of the Month-
This month take time to pray with your family and to read the Bible. Dad, Mom, and children should be a part of this time. Gather your family around the living room or at the dining table and read a passage of scripture out of the Bible. After this, take time to seek the Lord in prayer. Each member of the family should be given an opportunity to pray what is upon their heart. This time will be an enriching and rewarding experience for you and your loved ones.

Movie Must See- “Temple Grandin” Starring actress Claire Danes.

This is a film based on a true story about an autistic woman who beats the odds and becomes one of the leading scientists for human livestock handling. This is a truly inspirational story that shows no matter what obstacles you may be facing in life, you can make it through and become all that you were meant to be. It is a must see!

Music Must Hear- “Everlasting God” by Christian Artist Lincoln Brewster.

This is a beautiful and inspirational song about hoping and trusting in the Lord. The lyrics read; “Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord, wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord…” This song depicts the Lord’s unfailing ability to keep His people, and to uphold those who trust in Him and lean upon Him. The end of this song is so wonderfully stated; “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength, they will soar high on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint…”

Final Thought-
God loves you and He is there for you. You don’t have to walk alone in this life. You can reach out and take the Lord’s hand and trust in Him. Even if every person in your life fails you, God never will. He is a righteous and fair God; and He is perfect in all of His ways. He is a supernatural God, an awesome God, and able to meet every single one of your needs. Those who hope in the Lord will never be let down. Remember there is no "giant" in this life too big for you to face when you are standing with the Lord.

Love...

Volume 3.2

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread-
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)

One of the greatest commandments that the Lord gives to a human being is to love. When Jesus was asked; which is the greatest commandment? He replied; “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV)

Too many times, people get caught up in fruitless arguments and they forget to love one another in Christ. The Bible gives a beautiful and perfect example of love in John 3:16. It says; “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” When God sent His only Son to die for mankind and to rise again that they might have eternal life, it was the greatest symbol of love that the world has ever seen. Jesus gave Himself as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of all human beings for the purpose of reconciling them back to God and imparting His love into their hearts. It is through this ultimate sacrifice of love that mankind can have a restored communion and fellowship with God.

Another depiction of love is found in Matthew 1:18-21 (NIV); “This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.’”

In that time and culture a woman that committed adultery was put to death, often through stoning. Mary had not committed adultery; however Joseph did not know this. He was informed of her pregnancy, and thought that Mary had been with another man. Out of his love for her, he did not have her stoned and put to death. It was not until a short time later that Joseph was visited by an angel that shared with him that Mary had indeed conceived within her womb by way of the Holy Spirit. Joseph loved Mary enough to believe the best in her, and not to publicly humiliate her. He did not understand all that had transpired with her or all that was taking place; but he chose to show his wife compassion, kindness, and unconditional love.

Too often in life people are quick to point the finger at others in accusation. When in actuality, the person being accused may be doing what God has called them to do; or they may be choosing to walk out their lives in the manner that they see fit. Either way the Bible says; “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” Matthew 7:1-2 (NIV). Had Joseph chosen to judge his wife and publicly bring her to shame; she would have been mocked, ridiculed, and put to death.

I encourage you to love those around you. Show love through the integrity, character, and honor of your heart. Love even the “unlovely;” the ones who would be easier to cast aside. As you give love, the Lord will give back to you so much more. More than you can contain, and more than you could ever think possible. “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over…”Luke 6:38(NKJ).

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. Forgive me for my judgments and the lack of love that I have shown others. I ask that You would help me to be a light in a dark world, and that Your love would shine through me, oh Lord. I ask that You would fill me with Your love, and help me to be the person who You have called me to be. Help me to walk in integrity and purity, so that I can be an example to others and a blessing to those around me.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Date Idea of the Month-
This month is about love. Take a moment to write a special Valentine’s Day greeting to your spouse. You can also choose to write a “love note” or poem for them. Something sentimental and from the heart, that shows you love and care for them, and are thinking about them in that moment. Then exchange these greetings and watch your loved one’s heart soar!

Family Time Idea of the Month-
This month set aside some time for the family. While you’re having dinner or sitting in the living room share your thoughts with one another. Start by saying; “I love you because…” and then fill in the sentence. Each family member including; Mom, Dad, and children should take a turn and express how they feel about each other. What do you love about your spouse, children, and family members? Think about it and then say to each of them; “I Love you because…”

Movie Must See- "Esther"

Through her love towards God and towards her people she found favor with the King and the Jews escaped the evil plot of Haman. This film is based on the book of the Bible, Esther. It is a must see!

This is an inspirational song from Jeremy Camp's album titled "Beyond Measure." It is about God's love and how His love is the most important thing in our lives. It is a must hear!

Winter Must Read- "The Five Love Languages" By: Gary Chapman

This is an insightful and informative book about love and marriage. This book offers information for couples about the five most common love languages; and how you can best fulfill your mate through learning and acknowledging their primary love language. This is an inspirational book for couples, and it is a must read!

Bible Verse of the Month-
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 (NIV)

Final Thought-
Love is a condition of the heart. It is not an act that you put on, or merely a word that you say. It is about what you feel in your heart. Sometimes love is an easy and natural emotion to have and express. There are those that are easy to love and there are those who are difficult to love. It is during the times that you choose to love those who are difficult to love that you experience personal growth and find favor with God. Remember; “Love believes the best, hopes the best, and rejoices in truth…”
