Purpose...

Volume 3.12

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread- Did you know that God loves you and has a plan designed just for your life? The Bible says; “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NAS). Before you were born the Lord knew you. He knew what you would look like, what talents and giftings He would place in your life, and what purpose and direction He would give you on Earth. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you…” (Jeremiah 1:5 NAS).

Many people walk throughout life and do not feel a sense of purpose. They feel worthless and they think that they hold no value. This is simply not true. Each and every person has worth to God and each person is fashioned in God’s image and created for His purposes. It is up to each individual to choose the Lord in their lives and choose to fulfill their purpose on Earth. The Bible says in John 3:16 NAS “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
The first step in fulfilling your purpose is knowing Jesus and surrendering your life to Him; believing that He is the Lord and Savior of the world, and that He died on the cross for your sins and rose again that you might have life and have it more abundantly. When you receive Jesus into your life it fills the hole in your heart that each and every person has and it sets you on the path to fulfill all that the Lord has in store for your life. "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?" (Romans 8:28-32 NAS).
It is never too late to serve God in your life. It is never too late to be used for His purposes. It is never too late to find the true meaning in your life. In the Bible in the book of Genesis it speaks of Sarah the wife of Abraham, who was a woman the Lord had chosen for a specific purpose. God had promised her a son. When He spoke this over her life, she was older in years and far passed the age of child bearing. At first, it was hard for her to believe that this would come to pass. However, God fulfilled His promise and she bore a son one year later, whose name was Isaac. Isaac begot Jacob who had twelve sons who became the twelve tribes of Israel. Jesus is of the lineage of the tribe of Judah, and He is known as the Lion of Judah. This was a rich heritage the Lord gave Sarah and Abraham and He used their lives, even in their older years for a specific plan and purpose.
As it is never too late to serve the Lord, it is also never too early to be used for the Lord’s purposes. Many people live their lives selfishly, thinking that maybe one day they will give their heart to Jesus, but they are unwilling to serve Him right here and right now. This is a foolish choice because one never knows what tomorrow might bring. The Bible talks about seeking the Lord while He may be found. If He is knocking on the door of your heart in this moment, then grab hold of Him, and recognize that His presence in your life is a gift.
In the Bible in the book of Jeremiah it talks about the prophet Jeremiah. When the Lord called Jeremiah he was a youth, young in years, and unsure of his calling. Jeremiah replied to the Lord’s call by saying he was only a youth and did not know what or how to speak. The Lord replied back to him by telling him not to say that he was only a youth, and to be confident that wherever the Lord commanded him to go and whatever the Lord commanded him to say he would fulfill. The Lord put His words in the mouth of Jeremiah and used his life for a mighty purpose. Jeremiah spoke the words the Lord commanded him to speak to the people and to the King of Israel. All that Jeremiah spoke, the Lord brought to pass because it was the words of the Lord spoken through him and it fulfilled a great purpose in God’s Kingdom.
If the Lord is knocking on the door of your heart I encourage you to take hold of His hand and not allow this opportunity to pass you by. It does not matter who you are, where you have been, or what you have done in your life. The Lord Jesus loves you and He is there for you. He is drawing your heart and speaking to you in this moment for a reason. It is not by accident that you are reading these words and hearing this message of hope. The Lord is at work in your life, even if you can’t see it or recognize it. Take hold of Jesus and be forever changed.
You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;
Dear Lord Jesus,

Forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I ask that You would come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior and I believe You are The Christ, The Messiah, and The Son of God. I ask that You would fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I ask that You would reveal the plan and purpose You have for my life, and I ask that You would show me the way. Reveal Your will for me and I surrender to Your plan and purposes for my life.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Daily Bread- Psalm 103 NAS

Praise for the LORD'S Mercies.
A Psalm of David.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

The LORD performs righteous deeds And judgments for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel. The LORD is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust. As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, And its place acknowledges it no longer. But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children's children, To those who keep His covenant And remember His precepts to do them. The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all. Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word! Bless the LORD, all you His hosts, You who serve Him, doing His will. Bless the LORD, all you works of His, In all places of His dominion; Bless the LORD, O my soul! (End Of Psalm)
In life, it is easy to get caught up in the busyness of the day and forget to take time to thank the Lord for the blessings in our lives. Thanksgiving is a beautiful time to be thankful and to give thanks to Jesus Christ, who has made it all possible. When you take time to remember God's goodness, you are taking time to honor Him.
What are you truly thankful for; your salvation, your family, your friends, the food in your stomach, the roof over your head? This Thanksgiving, give thanks to the Lord for the blessings He has poured out upon your life, and take a moment to remember all that He has done for you and your loved ones. It is in remembering Him and His blessings, that you can realign your heart and be truly grateful for how very blessed you are. You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Judgment...

Volume 3.10

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread- Have you ever judged a person or group of people and felt convicted in your heart before the Lord? If so, you are not alone. Many individuals have felt judgment toward another at some point in their lives. The Bible teaches that we should love one another and refrain from passing judgment. In Matthew 7:1-3 NIV it says; “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”

Did you know that when you judge your neighbor you open yourself up to be judged? In the Scriptures it shares that whatever a man sows, he also reaps. "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up"(Galations 6:7-9 NIV). If you sow goodness, love, acceptance, and forgiveness you will reap this in return. If you sow judgment, deceit, strife, and unforgiveness, eventually you will reap these things in your own life.

The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the standard and the perfect example for each and every person. He is the one that each individual should look to for guidance and answers for their life. It is easy to look about you and measure your life and success based on another human being. This is a trap of the devil and one that can cause a person to enter into a downward spiral of judgment and jealousy in their life. It is vital to seek the Lord for His will and purpose for your life. When you seek Him earnestly for guidance and ask Him to reveal His plan for you, then it sets your eyes on Jesus.

In John 8:1-7 NIV it says;

Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At dawn He appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around Him, and He sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do You say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing Him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning Him, He straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

In this passage of Scripture Jesus was addressing the individuals who were judging this woman and casting aspersion upon her. There were those that wanted her stoned to death and were willing to pass this judgment without acknowledging that they were sinners too. There isn’t a perfect man or woman. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23 NIV). Jesus is the only perfect one. He is the King of King's and the Lord of Lord’s.

Jesus had a course and direction as He walked the Earth, and you too have a purpose given to you by your Father in Heaven. Your path will not be the same as your mother, brother, spouse, best friend, or neighbor. Each person is unique, with a unique set of giftings, talents, and ideas; given by God, to glorify His name and build His kingdom. Whatever path the Lord has given you to walk, whatever He has put in your hand to do, whatever He has destined you for, do it with all of your heart. Do not look to the left or to the right, judging your neighbor and bringing accusation against him, because he is not doing it as you are. Recognize that it is not your place to judge. It is your duty to love the Lord, love your neighbor, and live your life as the Lord has called you to.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

Forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I give You my life and I ask that You would fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I ask for Your will and plan for my life, and I ask that You would forgive me for passing judgment on others, and for holding jealousy in my heart. Show me the way and reveal to me the talents and giftings You have placed in my life for Your glory.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Family Time Idea Of The Month- This month do something that your family has been wanting to do, but hasn't gotten around to. Has your family been wanting to go to the local park, the ice skating rink, the bowling alley? Whatever it is, partake in it together as a family. Enjoy and Have fun!

See what else you can take away from the experience!

Music Must Hear- This month instead of recommending an album for you to enjoy, listen to your favorite music CD. See what else you can take away from the experience!

Final Thought- Do not judge those around you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and ask Him to search your heart. As the Bible says; if you judge, you shall also be judged. Remember, there is not one person in this world that is the standard. Jesus is the standard for us all and the only one that we can look to for perfect guidance, hope, and love.

Trust...

Volume 3.9

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread-“In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid…”
Psalm 56:11NAS

Trusting in the Lord is vital in a person's Christian walk. Without trust in God it is impossible to please Him; and it is impossible to walk in faith believing for bountiful blessings and direction for your life. When you trust in God, you put your life in His hands and have faith in your heart that He will be there to catch you when you fall, and guide you in truth and righteousness.

In Matthew 14:25-33 NIV it says;

During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw Him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

"Lord, if it's You," Peter replied, "tell me to come to You on the water." "Come," He said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. "You of little faith," He said, "why did you doubt?" And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, "Truly You are the Son of God."

There are many important truths found in this passage of Scripture. Firstly, this passage shows us that Jesus calls His people to take steps towards Him in faith that are often out of their comfort zone. In this, the Lord stretches an individual's faith, which gives them the ability to achieve heights they never thought possible, and enables them to fulfill God's purpose and plan for their lives. When you step out in faith, you can be assured that Jesus will be there for you, just like He was there for Peter. Even when Peter began to mistrust and have a lack of belief in his heart, Jesus still came quickly to rescue him when he cried out. The Lord is merciful and loving. He understands your thoughts, your emotions, your fears, and your shortcomings. He is not requiring your perfection. He is requiring your trust. Enough trust to take a step towards Him; a step that leads you out of the boat you are currently sitting in and onto the water.

Secondly, this passage of Scripture displays the importance of keeping your eyes on Jesus. Peter had faith to walk out on the water. But once he got there, he began to fear and doubt. When the Lord calls a person onto the water, it is often something that is beyond one's own ability and can only be sustained in Christ. Peter started to sink because he became fearful and began trying to sustain himself on the water in his own strength.

When the Lord calls a person it stretches a person's belief, understanding, and faith; like in the example with Peter. At first, he thought Jesus was a ghost. He was afraid and unbelieving. But, when Jesus bid him to come, Peter went. It was a stretch for him and it was a terrifying step to make. But he did it anyway, and in doing so, he reaped a great benefit. In his obedience, Peter realized that Jesus would be there for him no matter what, and he learned that Jesus was trustworthy.

Each and everyday the Lord Jesus bids His people to walk out on the water; to take steps of faith, and to trust in Him to be there to see them through. "Walking out on the water" represents having faith, courage, and belief in God; and doing the things in life that He is asking you to do, even when it is difficult to do so. When you obey the Lord and do as He is commanding you; you are showing the Lord that you love Him, that you are willing to lay down your life for His calling, and that you trust Him with your whole heart.

Jesus is bidding you to come this very day. The question is; "will you go?" You can decide this very moment to get out of the boat you are sitting in and walk onto the water towards Jesus. He is calling you and He is waiting for you. Take His hand this day and take a step. Walk on the water and have faith, trusting that He is there.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I welcome You into my heart and I ask that You would be the Lord of my life. I ask that You would help me to believe and to have faith in You and all You are calling me to do in my life. I choose this day to take a step of faith towards You. I choose to get out of the boat I am currently sitting in and to walk onto the water, where You are bidding me to come and waiting for me. I thank You for these things.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Flourish...

Volume 3.8
Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread- "But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever." (Psalm 52:8) NIV
Have you ever heard the saying; "flourish where you are planted?" This is an extraordinary lesson and one that is often taken lightly amongst the children of God. It is easy to look at the circumstances of your life and begin to grumble in your heart, wondering; "has God forgotten me?" The Lord has most certainly not forgotten you. You are precious in His sight and dear to His heart. The Lord loves you and desires nothing more than to prosper you and raise you up for His divine purposes. In difficult times it is vital to turn to the Word of God for truth and guidance. Through reading the Scriptures you will find invaluable lessons filled with truths and answers for your life.

In the Bible (Genesis 37-50), the Scriptures talk about a man named Joseph. Joseph was a righteous man who served and loved the Lord. He had integrity and did his best at everything he put his hand to. He was a man beloved by his earthly father, who gave him a beautiful and colorful coat. Because of this, Joseph's brothers despised him. They were exceedingly jealous and conspired against him. Through an evil plot, Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery and told their father that he had died a tragic death. Joseph was sold as a slave in the land of Egypt, to one of Pharaoh's top officials. His name was Potiphar. Joseph quickly gained favor with Potiphar and was put in charge of his entire household. The Lord blessed Potiphar's home because of Joseph's presence there, and Joseph grew in stature among God and man.

Potiphar had an evil wife, who continually tried to entice Joseph. Joseph refused her, and so she made up a lie about him. Because of this, he was thrown into the king's prison without cause. Even in prison Joseph flourished. Joseph chose to make the best of this experience, and he prospered, even in the midst of the most trying and difficult circumstance. In this, God gave him favor and word spread about him throughout the prison. The warden took notice of Joseph and put him in charge of all the prisoners there.

After a period of time, the Pharaoh of the land had a dream that could not be interpreted. He was puzzled about its' meaning, and decided to call for Joseph to inquire of him about the dream. Joseph came before the Pharaoh to give him the interpretation, as God had revealed it to him. When this took place, Pharaoh marveled and was amazed at Joseph’s wisdom. Because of this, Pharaoh honored Joseph, removed him from prison, and put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt. He went from being a slave, to a prisoner, to becoming the second most powerful man in all the land.

After many years, Joseph was reunited with his brothers and his father. Joseph extended forgiveness to them, and ended up helping them during a time when there was a great famine in the land. Had it not been for Joseph's hand of intervention in their lives, they could have starved to death and not received the help that they needed in their most critical hour. Joseph provided them with all they had need of and relocate them to the land of Egypt to be close to him.

Every difficult circumstance Joseph went through in his life, led him to the place where he ultimately ended up. Through this, he became a powerful man and was able to save the people, including his family from the great famine that swept throughout the land. God took every devastating circumstance he went through and turned it for His good. Joseph could have quit or given up, or walked away from God. But he did not. He trusted God, leaned upon Him for strength, and flourished right where he was planted. Because of this, God raised him up and exalted his life's service; using Joseph for His glory, to make a difference in this world.

No matter what you may be walking through in your life, God is there. He is willing and able to turn around every situation you are facing. Nothing is too great for Him. All you have to do is surrender to His will, believe, and have faith in His divine purpose for your life. Although difficult at times, it is possible to flourish right where you are planted today. It may not be your ultimate destination, and it may not be an ideal circumstance for your life. But, as you are faithful and continue to press forward, God will take notice of you and place you in the positioning He has for your life. You are not forgotten. The Lord's eye is upon you.

Today, I encourage you to trust Him no matter what you may be walking through. I encourage you to keep moving forward, and to believe that God has a plan for you and will see you through every difficult circumstance.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I give You my life and ask that You would fill me with Your presence and Your Holy Spirit. I ask that You would give me the courage and the strength that I need to make it through every trying circumstance, and I ask that You would help me to flourish in every aspect and stage of my life. I ask for Your love, strength, and mercy.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Warfare...

Volume 3.7

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread- In life, there are many obstacles. The Bible says; “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8 NIV). The devil, who is the adversary of your soul, is always lurking around looking for an opportunity to pounce and hurt the children of God. The good news is that God is bigger and more powerful than the devil. The Bible says; “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4 NAS). The devil is not a human being, he is a spiritual being. Therefore you can not defeat him through using your fists or using fleshly weapons. The Bible says; “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12 NIV). Because of this, you can only defeat the devil through spiritual weapons; weapons of warfare given to you by God to defeat the devil and live in victory in the name of Jesus Christ.

The first weapon of warfare is the weapon of faith. Having faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, and having faith in His promises and truths for your life is the first step. The Bible says; “…If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you” (Matthew 17:20 NAS). Faith is essential in your walk with God and it is the foundation of your belief in Christ. In the Bible, faith is depicted in this way; “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1NIV). It is through your faith that you will please God and move His heart in favor.

The second weapon of warfare is the weapon of prayer. Through prayer mountains are moved. The Bible says; “Truly I say to you, whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst” (Matthew 18:18-20 NAS). When you pray in Jesus name, you are releasing your faith and taking a stand against the enemy of your soul. It is through prayer that spiritual battles are won and the cohorts of hell are bound back by the mighty host of Angels in Heaven. Jesus displayed the importance of prayer during His walk on earth. In various passages of Scripture it talks about Jesus taking time by Himself to kneel before His Father and recharge Himself through prayer and communion with God. This is very important when it comes to your walk with Him. You must take time for prayer and communion with Christ.

The third weapon of warfare is the weapon of God’s Word. It is essential to study the Bible and read its’ truths. It is through the Scriptures that you will learn the tenets of the faith; and it is through studying the Word that your faith will be made strong. The Bible is likened unto daily bread. Without it, you can not survive; you will eventually become weak and frail and wither away. You need food to survive and get through life. So it is with the Word of God. If you want your spirit to be strong, you must feed it through reading the Bible and learning the Scriptures.

It is vital to speak the word. In Matthew 4:1-11(NIV) it says; Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, It is written: “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Then the devil took Him to the holy city and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If You are the Son of God, he said, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He will command His angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” Jesus answered Him, “It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.”

Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give You, he said, if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” Then the devil left Him, and angels came and attended Him.

Jesus was tempted by the devil. Jesus spoke the truth and spoke forth the Word to defeat the devil and his devices. The devil knows the Word of God and he will always come to tempt the people of God, distorting and perverting the Word to make his point. But as Jesus did, you must know what the Word says and then speak it forth, defeating the devil and his trickery. If you do not know the Scriptures by memorization, then open the Bible and begin to read it aloud. Pick Scriptures that pertain to what you are going through and build your faith. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in your times of studying the Bible and allow Him to bring to life its’ truths and how they apply to you and your life’s circumstances.

The fourth weapon of warfare is the weapon of tithing. The Bible says; “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over…” (Luke 6:38 NKJ). It is very important to the Lord that you are giving into His kingdom, and honoring Him with your tithes and offerings. When you give into God’s work you are making war against the devil and all his devices through your obedience and faith to give as the Lord commands you. When tithing, it is essential to seek God and inquire of Him where He would like you to give and how much He is requiring of you to give. When you seek the Lord in these matters, He will lead you, and in this, you will be giving into good soil and giving the amount He is commanding you to.

When you tithe you are honoring God and those that are spiritually feeding your life. Many times people expect many blessings from the Lord, but they are unwilling to trust Him with their finances. If you do not trust the Lord with your finances, then you will not be able to trust Him with much else. The Lord often calls a person to give in their most difficult financial hour. It is through their obedience to obey Him that He will unlock a blessing for their lives and turn their circumstances around.

The fifth weapon of warfare is the weapon of fasting. The Bible says; “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting” (Mark 9:29 Amplified).The Bible also says; “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?” (Isaiah 58:6 NIV) There are many types of fasts including; a one days fast, a Daniel fast, a forty day fast, and more. Jesus displayed the importance of fasting during His time in the wilderness. The Bible says that He was lead into the desert to be tempted by the devil. During His time there He fasted for forty days. His flesh was weak, but His Spirit was strong. It was through His Spiritual strength that He defeated the devil and his evil temptations.

Like Jesus, when you fast you are denying your flesh and your spirit is made strong. It is also through your times of prayer and fasting that the devil’s power is broken over your life and those you are praying for. Fasting is a powerful weapon and one that is often ignored or taken lightly in the Body of Christ. You must remember the example that Jesus set in His time of fasting. The Bible says that after Jesus was tempted and fasted for those forty days in the wilderness, He returned in the “power of the Holy Spirit.” It was at this time that He began His public ministry and began performing many miracles.

The sixth weapon of warfare is the weapon of worship. Worship is not only the act of singing praises unto the Lord’s name, but it is also a condition of your heart. When you obey the Lord you are worshiping Him. Your obedience and reverence for God is an act of worship that is exceedingly pleasing in His sight. The Bible says; “All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to” (Deuteronomy 28:2-8 NIV). This passage of Scripture displays just how important it is to obey God. When you obey Him, you are essentially defeating the devil in your life. You are opening yourself up to the Lord’s blessings for your life, and you are shutting the door to the devil and his devices against you.

Using these weapons of warfare is vital if you want to be an over comer and walk in an affective manner in Christ. However, even when using these spiritual weapons, remember that it is essential to walk in obedience before the Lord in order to have victory in life. Many people believe they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, and still have a blessed and victorious Christian walk. This simply is not true. This is a lie and a deception of the devil. The Bible speaks about not using the gift of salvation as a right to sin. Every believer has a covering of the Lord over their lives. This is there to keep and protect them. When a person does wrong before the Lord and does not obey His voice, they step out from underneath that covering and open themselves up to get attacked by the devil.

In order to prevent this from happening, a person must keep short accounts with the Lord. That is to repent of sin and not allow sin to take root in their hearts. In the Bible Jesus said; “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17 NAS). Make wrongs right with God and those that were hurt or affected by this sin. Also, seek the Lord regarding unrepented sin. Many individuals go through life and forget or ignore their wrongs from the past. They leave a trail of sin behind them and never take care of it. It is essential to face the past, repent for it, and then allow the Lord to do a work in your heart over it. When a person takes care of their past sins and allows the Lord to move in their hearts over it, then they are far less likely to repeat it. When sin goes unchecked, it takes root, flourishes, and then wreaks havoc on a person’s life. The Bible says; “Sin flourishes in darkness.” When a person exposes their sin before the Lord and repents, they can be healed, freed, and restored. Through this repentance the door to the devil is shut and his access is cut off. It is in this that a person finds victory in Christ.

Today, I encourage you to seek the Lord. I encourage you to seek Him in repentance and understanding of His Word, His truths, and the spiritual weapons of warfare that He has made available to you. I encourage you to exercise your faith and your belief in Him and His promises for your life.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I ask that You would speak to my heart this day and deliver me from the power of the devil. I ask You Lord to teach me how to use the spiritual weapons of warfare that You have given me, and I ask that You would stand with me in this. I thank You for all these things.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen

Vindication...

Volume 3.6

Welcome to Life is for Living 2010. We are excited about the Life is for Living blog and hope you are too! We believe that the Lord created each human being with a purpose, a destiny, and a future. Put your faith in the Lord and place your life in His hands. He is there; and He will not fail you or let you down. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and has a special plan and purpose for your life. When you go throughout your day and walk out the busyness of your life try to remember to stop, thank Him for His many blessings, and enjoy His beautiful creation! Remember that “Life is for Living!”

Daily Bread- Have you ever had an experience arise in your life where you felt completely helpless to do anything about it? Have you ever been wronged by an individual or group of people, and wanted to take revenge on those that hurt you? If you have, then you are not alone. Many people have dealt with these types of experiences and felt overwhelmed by their circumstances. The Bible talks about many men and women of God that had terrible injustices done to them. They were mocked, ridiculed, beaten, and even killed for the sake of the Gospel. The Bible is very clear that persecution and adversaries will arise in your life. But He gives a promise to each believer that He will be there, and see you through every obstacle. The Bible teaches that you should rejoice in trials and persecutions that come your way because of your walk with Christ and your belief in His truths. Do not be afraid when these troubles come about; but take heart and have courage. God is there and He will never fail you.

In the Books of Samuel it talks about a mighty man of God named David. When David was a boy he was a shepherd. He tended to his flock and would sing praises to God in the field. At a young age a prophet named Samuel came and visited David and his family and anointed David as king. David was unassuming and was seen as the “least” of his brothers. Yet God saw something special in him and knew that he had a king’s heart.

During David’s youth a group of people called the Philistines came to invade Israel and wanted to destroy the Israelites. There was one Philistine bigger than them all. He was as big as a giant, and his name was Goliath. There was not one man in the land that could take down Goliath and defeat him. But David was not afraid. He had courage and was willing to fight this giant. David stood before Goliath, and with one smooth stone and a sling shot, he defeated him. The whole nation sung praises to David’s name because of this and held him up in high esteem. As time went on David gained great favor with God and man.

Saul, who was the king at that time, became angry with David and jealousy gripped him. He hated that the people loved David more than him and gave him higher praise. The people would sing, “Saul has slain his thousands and David his ten thousands.” This enraged Saul and it caused him to turn against David. Saul pursued David in evil and tried to put him to death. Because of this, David had to flee and live in the caves. With him went a few hundred fighting men that were loyal and watched over him. Even when David fled, Saul did not stop pursuing him. He continued to chase after him, attempting many times to kill him. But God was faithful to him and never allowed Saul to prevail. This lasted many years and was a great source of pain and hardship for David. After many years Saul died in battle and David was able to return to the land. At that time, he became king over Judah, and then seven and a half years later he became king over Israel. God vindicated David, allowing him to prevail over his enemies and putting him in a great place of esteem and honor. David did not take revenge on Saul, his enemy, but allowed God to do the fighting on his behalf.

Through David’s experience with Saul God did a great work in his heart. He taught him through this time, and raised him up as a mighty man of God. He gained David’s trust by showing him that He would watch over him no matter what. He proved Himself faithful and true, and delivered David from every trial and tribulation. Through this experience He prepared David for his soon coming kingship and made his heart ready to rule an entire nation.

Through all of this, David did not try to raise himself up or prove himself out. He allowed the Lord to work in his heart and raise him up for His glory. He gave God room to work on his behalf and to work out every matter. He trusted the Lord and did not allow his anger or hurt to block out God’s voice and leadership in his life.

No matter what you may be facing in your life keep your heart steadfast on Jesus. Do not get angry at the Lord and turn from Him in times of trouble. This is a time of preparation for your destiny, and He will turn what the devil meant for evil in your life for His good. Allow God to strengthen you and prepare you to handle what He has in store for you. In this training you will be made strong. Your character will be built and your trust will be made steadfast in the Lord. Because David allowed God to raise him up, he was able to stand in the place God gave him as king. David was regarded as one of the greatest kings to ever live, and he reigned for forty years. What is built in the flesh will always fall. Do not build your house on the sand. Allow your life to be built on the rock of Jesus Christ; and allow God to vindicate you and bring you out of every trial and tribulation.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I give You my life this day. And I give You every trail and tribulation. I forgive those who have wronged me and I choose to release the hurt and anger from these matters to You. I won’t take up weapons in the flesh and try to fight my own battles. But I give You these matters and ask that You would fight the battle on my behalf. Just as you fought the battle on King David’s behalf, so I ask that You would do the same for me. I thank You for these things and I give You all the glory, honor, and praise.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,
Amen
